Find shutter count and other details from your photo

Uploading file…

Important!

For the most accurate analysis, upload RAW files (NEF, CR2, ARW). JPEG may not keep all metadata, especially after editing/resaving.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find a camera’s shutter count?
Upload the original file straight from the memory card — we’ll read EXIF/MakerNotes and show the number of shutter actuations.
Which formats are supported?
We reliably read metadata from popular RAW formats and from an original in-camera JPEG:
  • Canon: CR2, CR3 (historically CRW)
  • Nikon: NEF (NRW on some compacts)
  • Sony: ARW (historically SR2/SRF)
  • Fujifilm: RAF
  • Panasonic: RW2
  • Also: original JPEG straight from the camera
Why should I upload RAW rather than JPEG?
RAW usually contains more camera service data; JPEG may have it trimmed when edited or re-saved, which can prevent detecting the shutter count.
Why is the shutter count sometimes missing, and what can I do?
  • The file was processed by an editor and cleaned EXIF/MakerNotes → export without stripping metadata.
  • The file was downloaded from the internet/messenger → upload the original from the memory card.
  • Some camera models don’t record the counter — for them it’s technically unavailable.
What does the “Incomplete metadata detected” warning mean?
The system detected signs of re-saving or EXIF trimming (common with internet files). We recommend uploading a RAW or an original JPEG from the memory card. The warning contains brief tips.
Which camera brands are most commonly supported?
We explicitly mention Nikon, Canon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic. Actual shutter-count support depends on whether a specific model writes the counter into metadata.
What data will I see in the results?
The “Results” section shows parsed metadata (as a grid) and displays warnings if the shutter count isn’t found or metadata looks incomplete.
